Both San Angelo public high schools have vocational training programs as an elective: Central High School provides Auto Technology, Auto Body, Building Trades, Electronics, Drafting, and Welding/Metal trades.
Lake View High School provides Graphic Arts, Auto Technology, Introduction to Construction, Introduction to Transportation Careers, and Welding.
Angelo State University and Howard College provide contract training for employers. The two public institutions can administer and participate in workforce development programs financed by two popular state training programs – The Skills Development Fund and the Smart Jobs Program.
Both Angelo State University (ASU) and Howard College provide active continuing education programs, typically held at night for people that want to learn basic skills or take refresher courses with online courses also available. ASU provides vocational training in a wide range of computer introductory and intermediate courses, software instructional programs, introduction to electricity, plumbing, computer repair, web page construction, basic and advanced air conditioning, and basic electricity.
Howard College’s continuing education programs have included: business certificates with specializations in accounting and management, a variety of construction trades certificates including welding, electrical, and wind energy, ranch management, and information technology programs.
